Forget popping pills that are loaded up with more fillers and preservatives instead of active ingredients! You can get an antioxidant boost from these 7 spices!
* Cinnamon – We all know lots of ways to add cinnamon to your daily food. Just a teaspoon a day will help! Forget the calorie & fat rich coffee rolls! Try adding 1/2 tsp to your coffee grounds before brewing. Sprinkle a bit over your bread before you slide it in the toaster oven. After dinner, slice the extra dinner rolls in half, sprinkle with cinnamon, pop in the oven for a few minutes. While they’re in there, mix a thin icing out of powdered sugar and fat free milk to drizzle on the rolls as soon as they come out of the oven. Mmmmmmmm.
* Yellow Curry – Well, of course you can add some to your rice to flavor it. Why not try adding a dash to your chicken or egg salad for a new and exciting taste?
* Oregano – Yes, you read that right. Oregano, the under thought spice used a lot in Italian cooking. If you’re not into Italian food, why not try adding a sprinkle onto your grill cheese sandwich, right on the cheese, before grilling? Or how about a dash on your tuna salad? What about slicing a tomato in half, topping with a slice of mozzarella, sprinkling liberally with oregano and popping it under the broiler for a few minutes? MMmmmmmmm, that’s good!
* Ginger – Ever considered adding some to your lemonade? Try it! You may just be surprised! Simply add 1/2 tsp per quart of lemonade and serve!
* Thyme – I have to admit, my favorite way to enjoy a dose of Thyme is adding to my eggs when they are about 1/2 way done cooking. It doesn’t matter how I’m cooking them either! Scrambled, over easy, an omelet, however! Enjoy!
* Red Peppers, Crushed or Ground – Kick up the flavor of just about anything with a sprinkle of Red Pepper. Salsa, guacamole, hummus, a sour cream topped baked potato, broiled chicken, steaks, the list goes on and on. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
* Rosemary – Remember those plain old ordinary dinner rolls we started out with under the cinnamon? Well, rather than having those plain simple rolls, why not kick them up a notch and wow your family? Before popping rolls (any kind as long as they need to be cooked) into the oven, top em off with a splash of olive oil, a sprinkle of sea salt and a dash of rosemary. Talk about roll-goodness!
